Illumination is the basic necessity of mankind. Discovery of fire by the
early humans was also considered as the major breakthrough because it gives
visibility in night, warmth, security and is cooking essential. Same way
illumination through the bulb is enjoyed by us from many decades, thanks to Thomas
Edison. Now we also heavily depend on the Internet and we use the internet
through many channels like LAN (Local Area Network), WIFI and mobile phones.
In mobile phones,
there is an inbuilt antenna which sends and receives internet packages from the
cell tower.

LiFi lighting is an application or device by which we can
use both the things together which are required by us every day and night .i.e.
illumination and the internet.

LiFi is a system that uses visible light to communicate and
transmit data at a higher speed. Using light as an instrument for transmitting
data is not a new concept we have been using fiber optic cables for internet
from long back is also using lights.

LiFi stands for Light Fidelity and works on the principles of
Visible Light Communications (VLC) systems. It has a much higher speed of
internet which we have dreamed of but never used. It could have a normal speed
of 224 gigabits per second. It means we can download 2 GB data in just one
second, amazing.
Working of LiFi is simple. As WIFI use the radio waves, LiFi uses the
visible light in the form of tough lighting. It is using the same LED
(Light Emitting Diodes) and photodetector (photodiode).
Future Homes,
Offices, and Buildings will be depending on LiFi technology due to its speed
and security. Since light cannot penetrate walls, so it’s signals cannot be
accessed or hacked from distant locations.
